There are two courtyards, one between the North and Centre Towers, while the other one is between the Centre and South Towers. They are above the North and South Parkades respectively, and are reputedly the largest roof-top gardens in town.

The gardens are well planned and well maintained. They provide a tremendous sense of tranquility amidst the bustling environment around us. They have many mature pine trees, and shrubs of mugo pines and flowering plants lined with low-rise stone walls. There are little artful bridges over dried pebble creeks. There are rock ornaments, some with fountains. They have manicured lawns. Both have gazebos that shelter us from the sun and the rain. In the summer, they are decorated with flowering pots which volunteer residents will take care.

In the south courtyard there is a putting green for golf enthusiasts to improve their game.

In the north courtyard, outside our splendid swimming pool, is an area for sunbathing and an area with chairs and umbrellas for the enjoyment of the residents in the summer.

The Varsity Towers Greenhouse is located on the grounds of the south courtyard of the complex.

The Greenhouse opens and the growing season begins, in March and ends in October. For a nominal fee (currently $10), you are given a picnic size table on which to plant flowers or vegetables. Although that may not seem to be a large area, it is amazing how much produce is produced.

Lately, several gardeners have switched to using hydroponic kits and find their yield is much superior, with less effort on their part. Also, the plants produce much earlier.

It is a friendly community. People look after each others plants during vacation times and share their bounty during the year. In high season, the greenhouse is a lush, colourful place to spend time tending to the harvest.
